King County to pay $1.25 million settlement to man assaulted in jail in ‘meth-fueled rampage’

King County will pay $1.25 million to settle a lawsuit from a man who was beaten in his jail cell during a meth-fueled rampage by another inmate, the county announced Wednesday.
Abdiwali “Wali” Musse claimed that, on the morning of Nov. 1, 2015, he was sleeping in his King County Jail cell when Carl Anderson—who was high on meth at the time—began to “see demons” and attacked him unprovoked. Anderson, despite having a long history of schizophrenia and prior custodial assaults, had been placed in the same general population cell as Musse.
